What are Forest Collaboratives?

Forest Collaborative are diverse groups of stakeholders, some of which may be in conflict, that engage in a voluntary process of civil dialogue to collectively consider actions that improve the management of natural resources and benefit both the environment and surrounding communities.

North Central Washington Forest Health Collaborative

Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest

Advancing forest health through transparent actions that improve forest resiliency, preserve terrestrial and aquatic wildlife habitat, protect natural resources, provide recreational opportunities, promote utilization of natural resources, and support local economies in Chelan and Okanogan Counties.

Chumstick Wildfire Stewardship Coalition

Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest

Collaborating with agencies, organizations, and community members to implement cross-boundary forest restoration activities and fuels reduction projects within the Wildland-Urban Interface. The CWSC works with partners to advocate for locally driven landscape forest restoration and community preparedness projects that further our shared goals for improving the resilience of Washington’s communities and forests.

Tapash Sustainable Forest Collaborative

Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Yakama Nation, DNR, DFW, and The Nature Conservancy

Improving ecosystem health and natural functions of the landscape through active restoration projects backed by best science, traditional knowledge, community input, and adaptive management. We prioritize cross-boundary forest restoration activities at the landscape level.

Demonstrating the full potential of restoration forestry to enhance forest health, public safety, and community economic vitality.

Pinchot Partners

Gifford Pinchot National Forest

Work within the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and surrounding areas to promote policies and projects that create quality local jobs, recreational opportunities and benefit watershed health.

South Gifford Pinchot Collaborative

Gifford Pinchot National Forest

A community based partnership that participates in the development, facilitation, and implementation of projects that enhance economic vitality, forest ecosystem health, recreation and public safety on the south end of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and in surrounding communities

Darrington Forest Collaborative

Mt. Baker-Snoqualamie National Forest

A new partnership between loggers, conservationists, lawmakers and educators is aimed at creating more sustainable timber harvests in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

Olympic Forest Collaborative

Olympic National Forest

Brings together stakeholders from the environmental community, the timber industry, and representatives from federal and local government around shared goals of increasing timber harvest from the Olympic National Forest while benefiting the environmental quality of our forests and watersheds
